Falling Text - Learn how to create this Falling text effect using Flash 8.
Introduction: In this tutorial I will teach you how to create a Falling text effect using flash 8. It is a very simple effect no action scripts, all I used it one layer will different frames. Controlling the falling speed with the amount of frames. Its a nice effect you can add to an into to your flash projects.
Learn how to create the flash text effect above
Part1: Setting up the workspace.
Ok, let us get started. Create a new Flash Document, Click ModifyDocument, here is where you can change the background color, and the dimensions of your movie. Since I am creating this for explanation I sat the size to 477 x 200 to fit into my page. But you can create any dimension you need.
This is the settings I used, as shown below
Part2: Adding the text Effect, and frames.
Click ok, when you are satisfied and lets get started. Click on the text Tool and write something in the middle of your work space. I typed Pixel Digest as shown below. Also turn on the Ruler, View Rulers.
The line is a Ruler line, I place on the workspace to align the text better. You can add the line by clicking, hold and drag down on the ruler at the top of your work space. Using the Selection Tool click on the text and Break it apart once.
After Breaking it apart, you will get the effect below.
Click on the Subselection Tool hold Shift and click to select all the individuals letters. After doing that, right click on the text and select Distribute to Layers as shown below.
After doing that, each Letter should have its own layer. On each letter insert a keyframe on frame 15 by pressing F6. Your frames should look like the image below.
Click on frame 1 of the First letter, using the keyboard up arrow. Move the first letter up above the work area. If you are using the X, Y coordinates its about -88.2. Now right click on frame 1 and create Motion Tween repeat this for frame 15. Still on frame 1 of the first letter click on the "P" using the Selection Tool and change the Alpha setting to 0% as shown below.
This will give your text a fade in effect. Now lets go to the second letter "I".
Click on Frame 10 of the "I" layer and press F6, this will insert a key frame. Click on Frame 1 of the "I" layer. Using the keyboard Down arrow move the letter "I" down and out of the work area. On frame 1 of the Second Letter click on the "I" using the Selection Tool and change the Alpha setting to 0% as shown below.
If you test it, you should have the effect shown below.
Well you can follow the idea from here. Don't think I have to do all the lettering. For this example I included the .fla flash file you can download this and see what I did. Hope it helps, click here to download it.
