Flash Mouse Over - Learn how to create this mouse over effect using Flash 8.
Introduction: In this tutorial I will teach you how to create a flash mouse over effect. It is a very simple effect no action scripts, just some text, buttons and movie frames. Its a nice effect if you have a flash gallery or a display with a lot of images. I also created a video tutorial for this example, read more at the end of the tutorial.

Learn how to create the flash mouse over effect above.

Part1: Setting up the workspace.
Ok, let us get started. Create a new Flash Document, Click Modifyarrow Document, here is where you can change the background color, and the dimensions of your movie. Since I am creating this for explanation I sat the size to 380 x 200 to fin into my page. But you can create any dimension you need.

Next create 4 layers, These layers will represent the number of Image you want.

At this point we need to import the images. Click Filearrow Import to Library. Make sure that the Library option is checked this will allow you to see all the files you imported into flash.

With the image imported into flash position them as shown. This will change depending on what you want. I will only explain this for 1 image.

Click and select the the first image, using the Selection Tool . You will know that it is selected when the boarder shown below comes up on the image.

Right click on "Image 1" click Convert to Symbol

And convert the image to a Button

using the Selection Tool right click on the image and click Edit in Place

When you do that you will see the Button Options shown below.

Click on Over and press F6 to insert a keyframe.

With over still selected, right click on the image and convert it to a movie.  Using the Selection Tool right click on the image and click Edit in Place. With that create Three new layers and name them according to the image below.

Make sure the stroke crossed out and background color is set to black.

Click to select the Window layer. Using the rectangular tool create the shape of your rectangle. This is to give the text a background. Convert the rectangle to a movie.

Change the Color to Alpha 59%. This will make it a little transparent.

We are almost finished. Click on the Text Layer, i used the 04b_03b font. You can download load this Here. More fonts are on the fonts page.

Now just write something, and you are finished. Press Ctrl+Enter to test the movie.

Finished:
Well that is it. Hope it is what you expected. If you have, any questions or comments feel free to e-mail me or leave a message on the forum. If you are having a hard time with the tutorial email me and I will try to help. I also created a video tutorial for this example, it is on the video section of the forum. Yesterday on the 15th of October my gallery went down for some unknown reason. I was able to get the backup of the images, i just lost all the users. The gallery was not that active but i am sill pissed about what happened. I am in the process of reloading the gallery. Just give me some time and it should be up and running.Yesterday on the 15th of October my gallery went down for some unknown reason.
