Quick Selection Tool - Using this Tool you can mask object out quickly.
Introduction: In this tutorial I will teach you how using Adobe Photoshop CS3 and the Quick Selection Tool you can mask out objects faster. This is an amazing little tool that does what the name states. From simple to complicated images you can mask out your objects. This tool is only available in CS3 version of Photoshop.

First click and copy and paste the image above into Photoshop. This is the image I will be using for this tutorial. You should have two layers, one is the background and the other the image as shown below.

With the image layer selected press Ctrl+J to duplicate the layer, so you will have two images. Click on the eye to hide the original layer. Select the Quick Selection Tool this tool is only available in Photoshop CS3. After selecting the tool, add the settings shown below.

Now, using the tool click on the object you want to mask out. Click, hold and drag to select the image.

With the object selected, click on the Refine button show

When you click on Refine Edge you will see the window below.

Set your setting according to the image and click ok. Hold Ctrl+Shift and I, this will select the inverse. In doing that press Delete on your keyboard.

You can also cut out complicated images. As shown below.

Click on the image below and paste it into Photoshop.

With the image in Photoshop, duplicate it 4 times. Hold Ctrl and click on the first layer as shown below to select it.

Select the Quick Selection Tool using the setting below

click and drag around your image, it will take a little time but try to get it as close as possible to cut out. You can also use the Lasso Tool , with the setting below.

In doing that below is what I came up with, It does not have to be a perfect cutout.

With the object selected, click on the Refine button show

When you click on Refine Edge you will see the window below.

Hold Ctrl+Shift and I, this will select the inverse. In doing that press Delete on your keyboard.

Click on the eye to hide all the other layers. Click on the Eraser Tool with the setting below.

and start erasing around your image.

You are finished.

Finished:
Well that is it, hope it came out to what you expected. If you have any question or comment about this tutorial, feel free to post a message on the forum.

Yesterday on the 15th of October my gallery went down for some unknown reason. I was able to get the backup of the images, i just lost all the users. The gallery was not that active but i am sill pissed about what happened. I am in the process of reloading the gallery. Just give me some time and it should be up and running.Yesterday on the 15th of October my gallery went down for some unknown reason.
