Trash Can - Using this tutorial you will learn how to create a Can.
Introduction: In this tutorial I will teach you how to create a trash can or just a can in general. This is done with circles at different angles and colors.  If you are having problems feel free to e-mail us, or post a message on the forum.

In this tutorial, I will teach you how to create the Can above.

Step1: Setting up workspace.
Create a new image using the dimension  800 x 600. Set the background color to white, or whatever background you are planning to put the image on. Create a new layer, LayerNew Layer... (Shift+Ctrl+N) and name it CAN.

Step2: Creating the Can.
Now click on the Rounded Rectangular tool (U) and create a rounded rectangle with the setting I have below.

Change the foreground color to #bababa and draw the image shown Below, using the settings above.

Create another layer, LayerNew Layer... (Shift+Ctrl+N) and name it Lid.  Change the foreground color to #909090 and draw the image shown Below. First make sure that Extra and Smart Guides are checked this will help you line up the images. I am using Adobe CS2 not sure if the older versions have this option. To turn this on click, View and the option shown below is there.

At this point you are on the Lid layer, select the  "Ellipse Tool" shown below.

Now draw the Ellipse and position it as shown below.

To draw the ellipse click on point 1 and hold and drag the mouse over to point 2. With that you should have the image below.

We need to get rid of the extra image above the ellipse. At this point you should have three layers, Background, Can and Lid. Hold Ctrl and click on the Lid layer to select it. you will know that it is selected by the selection going around it as shown below.

Now click on the Can layer, the selection should still be active. Press the delete key on your keyboard, this will create an ellipse in the can as shown below. Click on the Layer visibility icon  next to the Lid Layer. you should have the image below.

Using the Rectangular Marquee Tool  subtract from your selection as shown in the image below.

Press the Delete key to delete the selection and click on the Layer visibility icon  next to the Lid Layer to make it visible. With that you should have the image below.

Step3: Adding the gradient to the Can and Lid.
Make sure you are on the Can layer right click on the layer and click Blending Options as shown below.

Now add the settings below.

Inner Shadow

Inner Glow

Gradient Overlay

Gradient Type

Click ok to add the settings, you should have the image below.

Select the Lid Layer, right on the layer and click Blending Options as shown below.

Now add the settings below.

Inner Shadow

Outer Glow

Gradient Overlay

Gradient Type

Click ok, If you followed the steps you should have the image below.

Finished:
Well that is it. Hope it came out to what you expected. I will create a video tutorial soon.

The gallery was not that active but i am sill pissed about what happened. I am in the process of reloading the gallery. Just give me some time and it should be up and running.
