In this tutorial, I will teach you how to create the effect above.
Step1: Setting up workspace.
Create a new image using the dimension 800 x 600. Set the background color to white, or whatever background you are planning to put the image on. Create a new layer, Layer New Layer... (Shift+Ctrl+N) and name it Wire.
Step2: Creating the wire.
Click on the Brush Tool and apply the settings shown below.
Make sure that the foreground color is Black, this will affect the color of the wire.
Now click on the Wire layer, select the Pen Tool with the settings below and draw a path with some curves to look like a wire.
When you are finished drawing the path, right click on it using the mouse and click Stroke Path as shown below.
If you followed the instructions, the window below should come up. Select the Brush and click ok.
In doing that your wire should be see, but it still has the path around it. Right click on the path using the Pen Tool and click on Delete Path.
To give the wire a better effect add a drop shadow onto the wire. You do this by right clicking on the Wire layer, click Blending Option, and apply the setting shown below.

Drop Shadow |
At this point, you should have something like I have below. Course it would not be the same path but just the wire with the shadow behind it.
Step3: Adding the shadow.
Now the fun part to apply the shadow. Duplicate the wire layer and change the opacity of the duplicated layer to 31% as shown below.
Click on the Move Tool and move the duplicated layer. Using the Erase Tool with the setting below erase the extra image just to get the effect shown.
Its simple from here just repeat the steps above and you will get the effect below.
