Writing Text - Learn how to create this writing text effect using Flash 8.
Introduction: In this tutorial I will teach you how to create a writing text effect using flash 8. It is a very simple effect no action scripts, all I used it one layer will different frames. It is a nice affect you can add to your flash projects.
Learn how to create the flash text effect above
Part1: Setting up the workspace. Ok, let us get started. Create a new Flash Document, Click ModifyDocument, here is where you can change the background color, and the dimensions of your movie. Since I am creating this for explanation I sat the size to 477 x 200 to fit into my page. However, you can create any dimension you need.
This is the settings I used, as shown below
Click ok, when you are satisfied and lets get started. For this example I will only add this effect to a couple letters. Lets say you want to add this effect to a word like Pixel. You will have to create 5 Layers, and place each letter on each layer. My example will give you an idea what to do. Create two layers and place each letters on its own layer as shown below.
On the "P" layer Click on Frame 15, and press F6 to insert a keyframe.
Click on View Edit Grid as shown below.
Set the grid setting as shown in the image, also make sure that the grid is turned on.
With that, also turn on the Rulers, View Rulers
Part2: Creating the effect.
Still on Frame 15 of the P layer, Click and highlight the frames as shown below.
Right click on the highlighted frame and convert it to keyframes.
Click on Frame 1 of the "P" layer, right click on your text, and Break it apart.
Click on the Free Transform Tool and using the grid as guides. Cut the amount shown below out of the text.
With the text selected, press Delete on your keyboard. Now Click on Frame 2 of the "P" layer, right click on your text, and Break it apart. With the Free Transform Tool delete the amount shown below.
Just keep doing this, using the grid as your cut guides. When you get the curve in the "P" Click on the ruler on the left hand side of your window, drag a ruler line out, and line it up as shown below.
Use this line, to cut and you will get a uniform look. With that you should have the effect below.
Click on layer "D" and select frame 1, Drag frame 1 to frame 15 as shown below.
This is the same process, what you just did just a different letter.
Finished:
Well that is it, hope it came out to what you expected. I also created a video tutorial for this example. The file is a 2.89 MB flash file. I have the link up on the video section on the forums. Users have to register to view the file, click here to register and view file. If you have any question or comment about this tutorial, feel free to post a message on the forum.
Updated the Forum, Unfortunately i could not use the same link as the old forum for the update. For the new link click Here. All the post and user name are still usable. So, if you previously registered you can still use the old username and password. Some accounts that was not used were deleted.

The gallery was not that active but i am sill pissed about what happened. I am in the process of reloading the gallery. Just give me some time and it should be up and running.Yesterday on the 15th of October my gallery went down for some unknown reason.
